Just what the heck is the Grand Prize Chapter???

The Grand Prize Chapter is a group of individuals from the Houston, Texas and surrounding areas who share an interest in the coolest hobby in the world — the hobby of collecting beer cans and breweriana (all other forms of brewery collectibles).

Our chapter is named in honor of the prime brand of beer brewed by the Gulf Brewery of Houston from 1935 to 1963.  The brewery was owned by famous Houstonian and world renowned eccentric Howard Hughes.

In addition to collecting, our group also shares an interest in preserving the history of the brewing industry in the United States.  The Grand Prize Chapter has several meetings every year at the Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Texas’s oldest microbrewery, located in, where else, Houston.

We also publish The Guzzler, a bi-monthly newsletter filled with interesting stories about the wacky, wonderful world of beer.  Our chapter is affiliated with the Brewery Collectibles Club of America (BCCA), an international group of collectors with nearly 4,000 members.

Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you enjoy our website.
